There are about four months until Senior Cotillion so I realized that this should be around the right time that I should start freaking out about my dress and shoes. There are just so many choices to chose from. I could go for more of an edgy feel, classic twist, or pure innocence in my dress, but the most pressing issue? MAKING SURE THAT I DO NOT HAVE THE SAME DRESS AS ANY OTHER GIRL. (Along with the overwhelming idea of finding a date.) But something I have never been comfortable with is sharing the EXACT fashion ideas or look as another person. I do not mind if we are dressed similarly but matching outfits just get under my skin. That must have sprung from my constant matchy-matchy style with my sister that I had when I was younger. Anyways, if a person decides to copy me.... WOOHOO, BUT they must add their own twist to my idea because clothing is a way of SELF expression....

COTILLION...
Date: October 29, 2011
Dress: Formal Evening Attire
Boy: Good Question
Designer: I wish I knew
There are so many choices to the dress of choice that I have been considering. Some of the contenders include....

One of my favorites from a recent Nightcap Clothing collection. Found on
The Trend Boutique

And last but CERTAINLY not least...
This beautiful navy Contrarian Bib Dress
Previously rocked by Katie Holmes in navy and Taylor Swift in lilac

All of these dress both hold different and essential styles that I adore.
The first dress is a dress that I have been coveting for a while now and the black lace along with the deep v-neck are so absolutely intriguing and elegantly edgy. The deep v-neck with is off-put by the 1/2 sleeves shows the versatility of the dress which is a factor I love. It makes me think that I could dress it up with some hot heels or I could even make it more serious with a blazer. This is something that will definitely be thought of in my decision making.
The second dress is so bright that it is hard to take my eyes off of it. I love that the color is bright but it is definitely not a "highlighter yellow" so it is definitely bearable to look at. The short, tight build of dress is just absolutely charming. I feel that the dress is very girly but the v-neck also makes it have a sort of sexy feel to it. Although not many people can pull off yellow, I think that this yellow is definitely a good example of when people can pull off yellow. But the only thing that is holding me back from buying this dress this instance is the fact of when cotillion actually is. It is in the end of October, definitely the time of fall territory so the yellow might be too summery for the event.
The last dress is a dress I recently discovered and I fell in love with immediately. I am the type of girl who love anything with an interesting back, and the back to this dress is, well, non-existent. I LOVE. The contrast of the tighter top half and the tu-tu-esk feel of the bottom half are to-die-for. The color is sooo rich and beautiful that I feel the dress could be worn during almost any season.
The ultimate decision will be hard, but hopefully as the date comes closer and closer it will become clear to me which dress I truly want!
If only I were an Upper East-Sider with all the money in the world to spend on clothes, shoes, and accessories.
To be honest, if I could have any dress in the world for my Senior Cotillion it would definitely be the masterpiece of a dress by Marchesa previously mentioned in another post, worn by Blake Lively in a recent episode of Gossip Girl (Season 4, Petty in Pink).

Hmmmmm... A girl can dream. If only, if only...
I will keep you dolls posted on which I decide!
